Epic Scottish Weekender – (am) 3rd June

There were several options for the day, a day off riding, a natural epic ride, or head to Fort William and ride some of the trails there.

Smitty decided to meet up with some friends of Ben and ride do the natural ride and bag a couple of ‘Munros’

The rest of us head to Fort William down the picturesque Glen Spean to the Nevis Range resort.

Once there we had several options, the witches trail, 10 under the Ben cross country course, Red downhill, or the soon to be used for the World Cup black grade downhill. The two downhill routes use chair lift to get to the top. Bruce and Ben decided to buy day lift passes and ride the downhill courses, while me, James and Dom headed for the Witches Trail.

To be honest, up to this point we’d been spoilt, so the Witches Trail really did seem a bit lame! Pick it up and stick it in the Midlands and it would blow people’s minds. It has some really nice technical sections but was nothing compared to what we’d been riding.

One lap was enough and we retired to the cafe to watch the loonatics ride the downhill tracks. Ben and Bruce had both ridden the Red downhill once and were on their way back up the mountain while we relaxed eating Lemon Drizzle cake.

Another run down the Red by Bruce and Ben……

They went up again, Bruce to ride the Red again, Ben to tackle the World Cup Black run…..
