GT Wednesday Ride (Leamington) – 1st August

Starting from the Rugby Tavern in Cubbington, for one of Simo’s Leamington based rides.

From the Small group (8 riders) it was pretty obvious that this was probably going to be a pretty fast paced ride and it didn’t disappoint! A quick pace right from the start, in warm sunshine, but with clouds gathering on the horizon.

Through Kenilworth, Warwick and back into Leamington.

As we got to Newbold and skirted the River Leam the first rain drops started to fall. By the time we hit the top of the Newbold climb it was ‘proper rain’, and looking back over Leamington it was obvious this wasn’t just a quick shower!

A soggy blast back through Cubbington saw us back at the Rugby Tavern for 21:30, and loading the cars soaked to the skin. A shame really, as Simo had worked out we were ahead of schedule and had an extra loop he was going to do, but the rain killed that plan.

Back home with the familiar nettle tingles of an urban summertime ride!
