M6 Closed (So Tempting) – 12th December

I’d heard on the radio on my way home that the M6 was shut due to a tanker fire, and the amount of traffic about confirmed that it was still closed. So as soon as I got home I got the bike out and headed up there.

The motorway was deserted apart from traffic police. Then a few lorries were escorted southbound by a police traffic car. It was a pretty weird sight seeing it so quiet at a time when normally it would be 6 lanes of constant traffic, and so tempting to nip into the services and ride the bike up the hard shoulder 🙂 But with so many coppers about getting nicked for it would pretty much be guaranteed.

I headed back and was suprised to see lorries in the back lanes. But then they were probably following their Sat Nav that was trying to avoid the congestion on the main routes.
